Since installing Windows 95 using the compaq setup disc from archive.org and later upgrading to Windows 98 everything is still working even if I power it off. I have not physically moved and have had the power cable connected to it. I think/hope the problem is solved now.

I did not mean again... 😀 Sometimes my english isn't the best and I add words... But had some luck, windows 95 is installing. It seems unplugging the cmos battery and plugging it in again did the trick. I hope anyway. I have ordered a new one just in case, cr2032 3v .

I also have a Compaq Armada 1750 and get the 'non system disk error' constantly. I have a backup of the original disk, I have a copy of the setup diskette and the diagnostics diskette. I sometimes use the original hdd, sometime different types of ssd's or compactflash cards to run windows 95 from. …

If anyone else gets this laptop, before you use the recovery cd from the archive, clone the HDD and get the serial number from the diagnostics partition! I had cloned but forgotten to copy the serial number. If you use a different serial number you get 'non system disk errors' and when you try to …
