I would suggest that it has max fsb of 100 and max multiplier of 8, and they just listed every option that allows for, rather than thinking 800 MHz Katmai was likely. I seem to remember there are slotkets that have their own voltage jumpers etc - would that be likely to make a 700 or 800Mhz …

It's only expensive if you are chasing niche parts. The retro community, for whatever reason, wants to build systems with 3dfx and GUS so they can play a tiny number of games that need them.

Not technically a dumpster find but.....rescued this Dell Dimension XPS from going to the scrapper. Has had the CPU upgraded with a PIII 850mhz at some point. Also has a Vortex 2 sound card and a Geforce 3 ti200. Pretty good score. it is indeed! looks ready to plug in and go, PCs like this in good …

Which resolution are you trying to play? Voodoo 3 should be plenty for Q3 unless you are trying to drive a higher resolution.

My blue power LED is so bright it lights up my whole bedroom. I've given some serious consideration to putting an ugly piece of electrical tape over it. I think they needed to use a different diffuser.

I've never pulled one out hot, but I bumped an SB Live on my testbench and it obviously caused a connection interruption and locked up Windows 98 (although, let's be real--Windows 98's natural state is locked up, so I was just leading it to the end faster than usual). There was no damage.
