Re: Windows XP - AMD and Nvidia graphics cards

After living with this setup for a while, I have concluded that the most trouble-free way to use one GPU is to disable all related devices for the other GPU in Device Manager as well as selecting the desired primary display adapter in BIOS. This has really been working well for me! I found that if I …

Re: dual gpu ( non sli) one monitor question

can i have both of these installed and powered, but only using one as the dedicated gpu when gaming, and when at desktop switch over to the other as need be? What operating system? I run a Saphire Radeon 7970 and an EVGA Geforce GTX 780 Classified together in my Windows XP machine. After living …

Re: Windows XP - AMD and Nvidia graphics cards

I was surprised to find it worked this smoothly, particularly because of the conventional wisdom to DDU everything when switching between Radeon / Geforce cards or risk abysmal performance, crashes, graphical glitches etc galore. Not too worried about the minor convenience of switching as I will 90% …

Windows XP - AMD and Nvidia graphics cards

Just wanted to share my experience with running both AMD and Nvidia cards on my 32-bit Windows XP system. I know the conventional wisdom is that they do not play nicely together, and if switching between them should run DDU to totally wipe the other vendor's drivers from the system. I suspected this …

Re: Windows XP Kepler SLI Support

Well, I found a couple GTX 670 4GB cards for cheap-ish so I bought them. Still want to get a couple 680s and a couple 690s and the prices on those are coming down to where I could justify buying them. Have been wanting to do some testing in XP with SLI. It looks like SFR should be able to be forced …

Re: Windows XP Kepler SLI Support

Doesn't look too promising ... from a comment about the 302.59 beta drivers : These appear to be the only Windows XP drivers with working SLi on Kepler (GTX 600) cards, albeit only working in Window mode (fullscreen = red screen of death). Vsync doesn't appear to be working in windowed mode though. …

Re: Windows XP Kepler SLI Support

Hmmm, if I go back to earlier drivers supporting Kepler (eg 306.81) and check the release notes , they don't mention the same restrictions about SLI not being supported for the GTX 670 (only for the GTX 680) and the Kepler GPU not supporting AFR limitations. I wonder if they were unintentionally …

Re: Windows XP Kepler SLI Support

Right, but the newest official SLI support for XP looks to be the 670. If I had a couple 680's I could test modifying the .inf file.... see if I could trick XP into having SLI for the 680 cards IF XP were tricked into thinking the cards were 670 cards. I don't see why SLI on 680s shouldn't work …

Re: Windows XP Kepler SLI Support

Looks like it is possible. See here: http://www.ps3grid.net/PS3GRID/forum_thread.php?id=3341 https://forums.evga.com/I-need-help-cannot-activate-sli-in-windows-xp-32bit-eVGA-GTX-690-wich-driver-works-m1934063.aspx Thank you for these links. Looks like they are for getting the GTX 690 recognised by …

Windows XP Kepler SLI Support

Hi, I'm currently running a GTX 680 in my Windows XP gaming box, but would like to run SLI just for fun and frustration. Thinking of using Kepler GPUs (eg 2 x GTX 660 Ti) since the GTX 680 is working really nicely. Wondering if anyone knows a definitive answer about Kepler SLI support in Windows XP? …
