It has 2MB of embedded RAM, so it won't be that slow (although the NeoMagic chips with embedded RAM weren't that fast). The weird connector is some kind of digital video output, based on the Silicon Image chip next to it.

That might be right, but there are a lot of times when I feel so clueless that wonder how I got this far. Now reading that line in my last post makes it sound like I don't like IT people in general. I don't think I would like the helpdesk, but what comes after it sounds interesting.

Mine only displays the Compaq logo on POST until pressing Esc unless there is an error after initializing video (like resource conflicts). I have seen some hangs in Windows as well, and it seems like swapping RAM can affect stability a little. I never made it totally stable, but it's doing well …

I ran out of expansion slot covers, so I put a modem in that slot to fill the hole in the back of the case. I think it still works (since Windows detected it and installed the drivers), but I haven't had a use for it.

It's probably too old for USB booting. You can try Plop Boot Manager, but I've never been able to make it work. No matter what computer I try it on, it starts to boot from the flash drive and then freezes after a few seconds (if it doesn't freeze immediately after displaying the option menu).
