You could also try to re-flash your BIOS chip (on another board if the chips have the same specs or with a programmer), in a similar case (other motherboard) it solved my problem but in the end the BIOS chip was dead and I replaced it.

Honestly I think you are asking yourself too many questions. Just get the card and have fun, or if in the back of your head you are always thinking « if I got a v3 instead… » just get a Voodoo 3 👍 In the grand scheme of things they are both affordable.

I bought an "as new" PS2 keyboard locally...which is in fact heavily used, has a broken rear leg and is dirty. Great. But it woks for 5€. Amazingly nobody around me has them anymore.

I wonder why Matrox is the only « mass » manufacturer that actually released firmwares to the public for about all their cards. Either they were extremely buggy (I don’t recall that being the case) or they have a better support than usual.

Parhelia 512 may get firmware updates from Matrox (not sure if they help in your case) Also, there are two revisions : Early one with AGP 3.3V support, and later one with AGP 1.5V only.
