Re: Orpheus II soundcard thread

I'm totally in disbelief now, this card has finally made it to the end. After so many years, I finally have general MIDI working without locking up, latency or hanging notes on TIE FIGHTER for DOS collectors CD-ROM with Roland SC-55 Mark II or wavetable daughterboard Dreamblaster X2. The LucasArts …

Re: Orpheus II soundcard thread

I was confused with the ORPHEUS.INI MPU setting. I thought because of the jumper setting there was no need to enter port address that matches the physical jumper settings on the card so I wasn't aware that I had to enter a port number or what is the syntax. I thought it would be "enabled" instead …

Re: Orpheus II soundcard thread

Ok. I have bad news. I moved the same hard drive from this machine into a newly built system I put together today and I'm getting the same problems with General MIDI. The new system is : ASUS P2B-L Motherboard,Intel P3 500 SL35E,512MB RAM, Award Bios https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/asus-p2b-l …

Re: Orpheus II soundcard thread

Thanks for your help. I'm now able to get MIDI with just Orpheus dos driver without running UNSOUND with the settings above in the .ini file. However, I'm getting the same results with general midi audio with either ports 300 or 330... I was confused with the ORPHEUS.INI MPU setting. I thought …

Re: Orpheus II soundcard thread

Ok. I don't have any other card in the system besides the Orpheus II and the PCI video card. An ideal setup would be the following and what i'm trying to accomplish. Port 330 for MIDI Wavetable connected to Dreamblaster X2 Joystick connector to MPU401 UART for General MIDI -> Roland SC-55 Mk II MIDI …

Re: MT-32 SB16 CT2290 NO GO :)

Here is the ebay cable... I noticed the MIDI OUT pin connection was in the wrong spot then that black wire came off on it's own 😀 The cable to the left is the MIDI OUT, the blue wire is on pin 4, but should be on pin 12 for transmit.

Re: MT-32 SB16 CT2290 NO GO :)

If you don't need MIDI IN, and you don't need to actually connect a joystick(s), maybe this might be of value? https://www.serdashop.com/DB15MIDI And if you're actually planning to do fancy MIDI stuff, maybe you might want to consider splurging for one of these? https://www.serdashop.com/ISA-MPU- …

Re: MT-32 SB16 CT2290 NO GO :)

It sounds like you have the parts of a working setup there, I think. To answer your questions: 1) MIDI breakout over game port was very standardized, but I have seen reports of incorrectly made cables before. If you can find the pinouts somewhere it shouldn't be hard to verify correct connectivity …

MT-32 SB16 CT2290 NO GO :)

Just picked up my first MT-32 Roland device. I have a 386 DX 40 with SB 16 CT2290 IDE , ISA not PnP. I have few games to test with that have Roland. Wing Commander and Monkey Island and WC hangs if I configure Roland at the start of executing the WC.EXE file (trying to load expanded memory) it works …
