Your current problem is no longer a "picture too far to the right" issue anyway, as you can make the folding disappear on either side of the image. You now have a "picture too wide" problem instead , and that problem only affects the (black) overscan area of the CGA image. No, look at the two …

A halt opcode - on cpus that do support it - is causing the cpu to wait until an interrupt occurs (often reducing the cpu power consumtion during the wait). That said, halt has nothing to do with exiting or terminating the program.

Fully stable doesn't neccessarily mean that it was more than 0.0001% away from unstable. If it's related to capacitors, and as you have swapped and removed all cards (which do contain capacitors themselves), maybe it works better if you move this or that card closest to the cpu.

Looks like a piezo speaker. As it's close to the tape/metronome connectors, it might be just that for. You would have to look a the bottom side of the PCB to see if connects to those connectors.
