Re: NASCAR Racers (Hasbro) - no CD audio

in Windows
http://hifi.iki.fi/carmageddon/wav-winmm.dll There's a compiled version of wav-winmm (ogg/wav-winmm is a open source project GoG uses). Rename it to winmm.dll, place in game folder. Then create a subfolder "Music" and place wav files of the music files there with naming scheme track01.wav , track02. …

Re: NASCAR Racers (Hasbro) - no CD audio

in Windows
This seems to be a rare game and I'm having trouble finding a download for testing purposes, just some suggestions though: 1: Have you configured _inmm.dll properly? Does it work with other games? 2: Have you tried ogg-winmm (the wrapper included with most GoG games)? 3: Have you tried the unpatched …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain seems to run pretty flawlessly. Most of the problems it's known for aren't rendering related though. Doesn't work in DXGL, videos don't work when run natively (in Win8.1). Zelda Classic has UI rendering issues. Games run fine though (think of Zelda Classic like an emulator …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Heroes of Might and Magic IV is almost perfect. At game start it switches mode and minimizes itself. When you give it focus again the top 10-20 pixels of the screen is duplicated at the expense of the bottom 10-20 pixels at the bottom (maybe the menu bar displacing something? When you boot it …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Lands of Lore 2 does not work in dgVoodoo2 (crash at start) if anyone's wondering. Works perfectly in DXGL (hardware rendering and everything) and works natively (software only). Grand Theft Auto 2 also crashed at start, but there's no reason to bother with that in D3D mode when you have Glide …

Re: Exploring the possibility of using HDTV for retro systems

in Milliways
Yeah the more processing the TV needs to do to the source the more delay. If you can feed it a native resolution signal and disable all enhancements (or use a PC mode), lag shouldn't be a problem. On many modern TVs, it's still a problem. It is on many monitors too. On monitors your chances of …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

The GoG build of Pharaoh curiously fails at 1024x768. Seems to work fine at 640x480. Tried Disciples II again and this time realized it has a D3D mode: only black screen in dgVoodoo2 though (works fine natively). Nox seems to work pretty flawlessly (more so than other Westwood games I've tried...) …

Re: Exploring the possibility of using HDTV for retro systems

in Milliways
Higher resolution = more room and more options for scaling. If my main concern was image quality, I would go with the highest resolution monitor/TV I could find. My main concern is "input" lag though, and I think yours should be as well. Read up on it. Most TVs have terrible display lag (I'm NOT …

Re: nVidia Antialiasing adds 1px border

in Milliways
Well, first thing obviously: why use regular AA? You have downsampling (see GeDoSaTo) and post-processing AA available for a reason. Not everything works otherwise. SweetFX can change that border into a 1px black border, but only for DX9-11 games and anything else will need wrappers.

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

I still have 1080p problems in Total Annihilation and I've tested and I get the same problem if I select 1080p in Tiberian Sun or Soul Reaver too. Basically games have black bars on the left, right and bottom sides. Graphics are distorted. Cursor position is misplaced and reaching the bottom and …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Wipeout XL works now and Outlaws properly initializes the 3D renderer (mode switches are still painful in Outlaws). They both have some pretty nasty issues with texture transparency though. Wipeout XL has a demo (16-bit installer though): https://archive.org/details/WIPEOUT_201406 Movie playback now …

Re: Shadow of Destiny/Memories

in Windows
I tried this and wow, that was unbelievable annoying to troubleshoot. Basically, it crashes and takes everything else with it (including Explorer). Everything else doesn't crash, just stops accepting mouse input. Oh, and I got it to run... once. Couldn't reproduce that :P I would take F2bnp's advice …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

VirtuaIceMan has a 144hz/1440p monitor. He should have the same problem as me. VirtuaIceMan: I would wait until next dgVoodoo2 release before trying to run games with it. Some work, but many have problems with resolution enumeration on high-res/high-refresh monitors. If you can connect a 1080p/60 …
