Re: Sound card chip die shots?

I supplied damaged SC55mk1, GF1, EMU8000 and couple others for decapping, I think the SC55 one is already helping things move forward with emulation of SC55 devices ~ EMU8000 is under cT1971 Hey, thanks for doing that! Much appreciated! I don't suppose the card that donated the EMU8000 also …

Re: Sound card chip die shots?

AppleSauce wrote on 2023-01-06, 01:26: Siliconpr0n seems to be the most comprehensive from what I've seen , they also have die shots of the emu8000 , sc55 and GF1. They do? I didn't even see Gravis or Roland listed in the vendors and Ensoniq's category was empty.

Sound card chip die shots?

Lately I've gotten curious about the chips on sound cards, and I mean the actual chips themselves. I've tried looking for die shots, and while I have found a few, it's not easy. Either I don't know which chips in a long list got used on sound cards, or I do at least know of a few, but they're not on …

Files showing in DOSBox but not on host

This is something I've actually already gotten through, but it seemed really weird at the time, so I'm posting here in case someone else has the same problem down the line. The problem was I had a directory that had been renamed in DOSBox that was showing up in DOSBox, but not in the host's (Linux …

Re: DOSBox Feature Request Thread

640X400 extends to 1920X1200, which is the resolution of the display I am using. Games were meant for a 16X10 aspect ratio. No, they were designed for a 4:3 display, with pixels that weren't square. 640*400 on a 4:3 display gives pixels that are 1.2 times taller than they are wide. 640*480 on a 4:3 …

Re: FMonster, the monster of sound synth

This was quite a ride. Took me a couple of days on and off to read the thread. Even though I won't be buying one (no retro machine to put it in), I look forward to seeing the finished result, just for the sheer triumph of such an ambitious project. I bet the section-debug boards could be pretty good …

Re: Movie Recording Help

I know some audio playing programs read the audio data from audio tracks straight off the disc, rather than letting the OS or drive handle the playback. Would adding such a capability to DOSBox be worth the trouble?

Re: Music quality

I have following options on Sound Blaster section in DosBox v. 0. 73: sbtype=sb16 sbbase=220 irq=7 dma=1 hdma=5 sbmixer=true oplmode=auto oplemu=default oplrate=22050 On oplemu I've tried ''default'', ''compat'', ''fast'' and ''old'' and none of them helped. Seeing as Duke Nukem II uses the OPL2 …

Re: OPL Emulation 0.73

Performing real-time sample-rate conversion sounds like a good idea, but there should probably be an option to use simple methods or disable it for those with slow machines. Also, where would this be applied? Within the sound devices? Between them and the mixer? Both? How does DOSBox handle a game …

Re: Post the Windows games you play in DosBox

I don't know about v0.72 yet, as I only just found out about it, but Dare to Dream by Epic Megagames works fine, as does Midisoft Recording Session (some MIDI sequencing software originally written for Windows 3.1) and MOD4Win 2.40 seems to work perfectly (although it does send its CPU meter over …

Re: ZMBV Codec Bug

You might find this shader for Media Player Classic useful: 15=red-blue swap|ps_1_1|sampler s0 : register(s0);\nfloat4 main(float2 tex : TEXCOORD0) : COLOR\n{\n\tfloat4 c0 = tex2D(s0, tex);\n\treturn float4 (c0[2],c0[1],c0[0],0);\n} Just add this to the end of the shader list in mplayerc.ini and …

Re: No fullscreen on LCD monitor

Your video card may have come with some software that lets you tweak the settings for an LCD monitor. I've managed to use what comes with the nVidia drivers to tweak my monitor to run at 75Hz, instead of its rated 60Hz at its native resolution of 1440*900. It still reports a 60Hz refresh rate to …

Media Player Classic x64 Windows XP Video Fix

If you use Media Player Classic, you'll no doubt be aware of its capability to apply pixel shaders to the video being played. If you use x64 Windows XP, you'll have probably found out about faulty video files written by DOSBox that have the red and blue in the pallete swapped. With a bit of …
