Yes, this is truly weird !!! About the shadows, you'll see, they are quite good for the monsters, but they always stay straight, so if there is a tree next a cliff, the shadow does not adjust to the cliff. (I don't know if it's clear... as I'm french, my english is not so good !)

I'm Back ;) Well, I updated to Direct X 9.0c, and now, the install works. Don't ask why :lol: A few tips for those who want to run GL Hexen under XP. You have to delete the "glide32.dll" file from your "Hexen II" directory. Then make a shortcut of "glh2.exe". In the properties, type, for example, " …

Hexen II got out by the time of DX 5, I think. I will try uprgrading to 9.0c, thanks ! I'll reply later 😉

Well, I have a GeForce 4... It's really weird, cause I tried on a friend's computer, who also has XP, and the install works. I wonder if it's not because of the "a" version of DX9... ?

Well, I uninstalled SP1 and the uptades to have my computer as before. And I had to change my dvd player but it's the same dvd as before. No other changes at all.

Well I did exactly as you did Nicht and it still crashes, just after the intro, when it gets the screen menu. The error message I get is : Application error : E:\TIMEWIN.EXE The program encountered a problem at adress 004306f0 and cannot continue. Click on OK to terminate the application. It's weird …

Well, now with DX8.1 I have SW Episode I Racer running, great ! But the same error message still occurs with Time Commando : a critical error with a lot of numbers, like : "The program encountered an error in 0000818U729IN" you know...

I found ! The motherboard chipset is Intel Brookdale i845MP, and my Yamaha is YMF753. Does it help ?

Nope. The earliest restore point I have is the one I used, and even by restoring, Direct X is still v9. I restored all I updated, but not DX8... There must be another way to reinstall DX ?...

Well, I checked with Aida32, and I do have a Yamaha AC-XG. You're right, the only driver which can work with it require Win98. And there's no true DOS drivers for my sound card... The audio plugin for the AC-XG is AC97. This one is proposed on ShinoD7 ("son" section). But even by using it correctly …

Just did it. And well... it doesn't work. I restored to a point before the updating with SP1 and the others XP patchs. Then I reinstalled the two games and it's still the same : TC crashes when it comes to the menu, and SW Racer doesn't "show" the menu while I can hear sound. But I noticed something …
