How to record FM music? (not with dosbox)

I have an old P2 machine, and decided to record FM musics. I didnt change any volume, everything is on the default, sadly the input is too silent, about half of the maximum. I know its not related with DosBox, but I hope anybody met this problem. Im trying to record with Win7.

I want to record FM musics, how?

in PC Emulation
hello there, I decided to record and store some old DOS games' music :) (adlib/FM source). I need some ideas how to do it. I know I will save WAV format with 44100, 16bit, mono format. How to minimize the noise? The source cmp is a desktop and Im recording on laptop. The laptop wont be plugged into …

Re: Getting ready a Sound Blaster 16 to work

in DOS
hm lets think in another way. The integrated soundcard is cannot be disabled (I set its port,DMA,IrQ to another value, even disabled, still, WinXP see it and produces sound output) I think I must plead with SB 16 to use port number 240. Hm, how... however what can solve that integrated card problem? …

Re: Getting ready a Sound Blaster 16 to work

in DOS
I see. But its not the problem, my XP recognies it too and doesnt work... when I try to play any sound I hear a big silence, and XP doesnt tell anything wrong. Parameters are usual, 7-IRQ is ok, BUT DOS games says its wrong (even the driver's test program). Maybe the problem is with the intergrated …

in DOS
Hi all, Im trying to use an older Sound Card 16 CT4180. I guess its PnP technology because no jumper I found. After connecting it says it uses 220 port, 9 IRQ and 1, 7 DMA. Only a few games can use it. How to change the Port, IRQ, DMA etc parameters? Sadly I have no install disk for it. I have a old …

Re: my own OPL player - a bit weird?

hm ok then Im in a serious mess. Let me sum it up, from my point of view. First audio device what came out -> adlib = opl2 = YM3812 chip (mono) = used by many games. Dosbox also threath it as mono, 16 bits. That's why my aim was the 3812. opl3 = YMF262 = stereo, more waveforms = used by few games, …

Re: my own OPL player - a bit weird?

we dont understand each other :depressed: I see dosbox uses M3812UpdateOne, YM3812Init... in cases of OPL2. Thats why I only use them too. Still, it sounds different for me EDIT: and since the ADPLUG+WINAMP plays it perfectly back, and DRO cant even record opl3 music, Im sure the mistake is not with …

Re: my own OPL player - a bit weird?

Well could be that the timers are simply not precise, check the delphi docs. sadly not, its laggy in C++ too, but its not matter yet. Is WriteStream called at millisecond resolution with appropriate parameters? No and its not predictable when its called. Its called when the stream can accept " …

Re: my own OPL player - a bit weird?

Okay, then here is all code: http://pastebin.com/f47aff5e3 written in MVS 2005. And some new records: DOTT - which sounded a bit accuracly, 90% DNUKEM2 - whics is a bit worser, 60% and dont forget DOOM wich was catastropha :surprised: So, it do works with some songs but DOSBOX does it almost 100% …
