Wow i just ran it on my 386sx especially overclocked here to 27,5MHz. 13MHz ISA. FPU The Game is absolutely not playable. Below 1fps even in smallest window size. Dear all, just want to confirm that EtherDFS runs fine on bridged networks within VMWare Workstation. Also want to confirm that it wont work with bridged networks via Wifi as stated here also earlier. VMWare -> bridged to Wifi -> Wifi-LAN-converter -> MSDOS: no success. 🙁 Regards

Update: Measured and system was indeed running at 27,5MHz Bus speed. I lowered to 13,75 MHz now. Crazy. Anyway I meanwhile also managed to overclock the cpu further to 30mhz. At first only with lowest bios settings but it survived 5hrs of doom timedemo. Thus cpu wise ok now let’s get closer chipwise …

Thanks all tested. The divider seems to be at /2 for isa. Lowering it further to /4 decreases performance too much even with lower waitstates. So I keep the settings as is. Interestingly the slightly increased isa bus from 12 async to 13,75 sync did. not increase the hdd transfer rate by no means.

I ran a few tests from pshipkov's util pack. Note that SCSI DMA left at 5.0 MB/s. Wolf_286.exe TIMEDEMO = between 22.1 - 22.3 fps (no sound), or between 20.9 - 21.0 fps (with sound) Speedsys score = 3.36. I need more RAM to run more tests. 3DSpace = 42% DMA Speed = 1040K/s CABT = 4.67 seconds …

One thing is here definitely my ISA/DMA Bus Speed. If I lower that to normal I drop down to below 2mb/s for diskbench whereby scsi performance remains. Interesting but in my „overclock“ setup the IDE performance with faster IDE HDD seem to be just the better option. And I don’t even talk about noise …

Ok so get a stable and continious 300Kb/s burst rate including keeping buffers filled. Thats ok I would say. But not quite sure if I'd say thats amazing. Ahhhh sorry. 😀
