Strange. After mounting the iso and a directory as my C:\ (like I usually do), the game installed like a charm. It just doesn't run.

In fact, the download is an image of the CD. I made an ISO and installed it through DOSBox.

Forgive my noob moment, but I'm not sure that you mean by ntvdm. If you mean Windows NT, well no. The game was made for DOS (and was also supposed to work on Windows 95/98.

I just came across a particular game made in Portugal named Gambys (http://www.luisperes.net/gambys_videogame.html). For some obscure reason, despite being a DOS game, it doesn't work on DOSBox. You have to use a virtual machine to play it. I wonder if anyone knows exactly what's wrong with that …

Thank you very much. I am downloading it. I wonder if the DOSBox developpers know about this bug and if they plan to fix it (it is on more games than just Alone in the Dark). Anyway, this dos emulator is really great. Keep up the good work.

I tried them on a normal CD drive too and they gave me the same problem. The thing is that every music is encoded in CD Audio (you can put the CDs in a normal CD player, skip track 1 and listen to them). The first one had only music encoded in CD Audio. Normally, if a false positive is reported, they should remove it from their page. so I suggest to at least give it a try. They made a test with the file in question. You should look.
