Re: Sango Fighter

in DOS
I had similar issues. I have the game running on my system (P4, 2.4GHz, Windows XP) and sound effects don't work for me and the game is extremely slow. Slower than it ran under DOS if my memory is correct. Never resolved it either, so I'm interested to hear if someone got the game running well. Cush

Re: No sound in Epic Pinball

I recently got VDMSound to work just fine with Epic Pinball. I used default settings; Soundblaster 16 with IRQ 7. Oddly enough, Silverball does NOT work correctly for me even though it's essentially the same software as Epic Pinball. Cush

Re: Trouble with ALL dos games!

in DOS
Glad you got it to work. I was down for a month and ended up rebuilding my Windows XP partition. It took a long time to get that straight as you can see from my post. Same Cranky Hermit from GameFAQs I suppose? I guess I'll see you around there. Cush(1978)

Re: Trouble with ALL dos games!

in DOS
Yeah, scroll way down. Exact same problem; stuff crashing in fullscreen and working in safe mode. Was that ever a pain in the butt! Now I've got around 40+ DOS games working just fine. I used PowerDesk to ultimately ferret out the offending DLL. Cush

Re: Loom CD Talking Version

I double-checked and the game dialogue loads much more slowly with digital audio disabled. It also still has the problem where it won't play more than one note of a draft I'm weaving. Not a big deal; I managed to finish the game on Expert mode. I just got out a guitar and played along when listening …

Re: Loom CD Talking Version

I did swap the drive letter of the Virtual Drive with the drive letter of my lowest-numbered CD-ROM drive which happens to be G: but no dice there. I don't think it complains about multiple CD-ROM drives since just about every CD burning software out there seems to make a virtual drive. Clone CD, …

Re: Loom CD Talking Version

OK, took all the suggestions into account. Here's what I've come up with: Running natively: Runs same as in VDMSound. Great audio, but can't hear anything past the first note of the draft I'm weaving. Running with SAPUCDEX: Game doesn't even detect the CD-ROM. It goes back to the desktop with a "You …

Re: Loom CD Talking Version

I did read through the ScummVM forums and it looks like they've got a couple problems with Loom that are completely different. Might be worth a shot, but I'm curious. The entire game is CD Audio, so if it plays one note, it should play the rest. It plays all the other sounds in the game as well …

Loom CD Talking Version

Hello, I recently acquired a copy of the talking version of Loom and with VDMSound everything works like 95%. The voices start on cue and the music is fine and everything, but when I cast a draft, only the first note of the draft plays! Everything else on the staff lights up and the draft works, but …

Re: slightly OT - thief2

in Windows
You're talking Thief 2: The Metal Age? I have it on a Pentium 4, 2.4GHz with a GeForce 4 Ti 4800SE and it works just fine. No need to throttle the speed at all. Cush

Re: Mouse Compatibility

While we're on the subject of running DOS games, how does DosBox fit into the equation here? I've been to their site and I know VDMSound and DosBox have entirely different goals. But here's my question. If I have a game that works in XP, I know that using VDMSound provides better SoundBlaster …
