Re: USB Serial Converter

If i use a real UART under emulation, i have very few problems; but it works better on a fast computer than a slower one. You have to run DOSBox fast enough so it's 'almost real time'. USB? I have no idea as to why there are so many issues; never investigated that.

Re: USB Serial Converter

Yes, you can use PCI serial cards to use under emulation, that does work. The key is, is that you have an actual, honest-to-god UART chip behind the RS-232 port, and you're golden. The other thing you have to watch (especially with motorola software) is to disable the fifo of the serial port you …

Re: USB Serial Converter

OKay, I know a little bit about this subject; which radio programming package are you trying to run? If it's anything from Motorola, forget it, USB serial I/O under emulation is a definite NO GO. If it's kenwood, yeah, there's a decent chance you can get it to work. Don't know about others . . . .

Re: Direct serial port working

Hal, my old friend-- It has been some months since I started using your 0.65 build with the DirectSerial enhancements. The version I have works for alot of things, but not all. So, I have some questions, answers which are not entriely apparent from past posts: 1. Did your enhanced DirecSerial mods …

Re: Direct serial port working

HAL: My initial tests show that so far, all of the programs I've tested run correctly under DOSBox! All (or almost all) of these fail to run under either VMWARE or VirtualPC! (Well, they would run, but the serial I/O was totally screwed). This last patch has made migration away from 'real' 486 …

Re: Direct serial port working

Okay, great. We get a clean patchup of current CVS, and we have a clean build under VS-8 (A.K.A. VS 2005) after the requisite project conversion. I did have to add WS2_32.lib to the link properties, for some reason. Now I need to do some testing. . . . Thanks! I really appreciate your help . . . . : …

Re: Direct serial port working

Just FYI: The .diff file seems to have an error in the section that diff's the VS project file: dosbox.vcproj. I get a 'malformed patch at . . . ." error. If I remove that section, it patches up ok, so maybe the version of PATCH is not right . . . If it works for you, then I must be doing something …

Re: Direct serial port working

HAL: Firstly, I want to thank you so very much for the recent improvements you've made to the DIRECTSERIAL emulation in DOSBox! There are applications I have which won't even run correctly in either VMWare or VirtualPC but works perfectly in this version of DOSBox! :happyhappy: There are, however, a …
