Um, it's starring at us in the face. Each time one is called they're blitting the screen. Doing the math shows they have reeeeaally high refresh rates:) Should at most match refresh rate + time for rendering.

Benching the renderer with the pentium cycle counter shows the same speed up; old code: 40500 cycles, new code: 14000 cycles or 2.9x.

Even with those little code snippets setup as inline functions they jump all over the place, repeat setup code, and prevent or make it more difficult to do other optimizations. Forcing bitumove to inline would just be a start. Also, sitting behind an array of pointers makes it unecessary to have a …

privateer doesn't run with dynamic core yet(from my experience). set ems=false and core=normal. new handler runs fine /w privateer(in windows) btw.

The code was tested with these: ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Jcenter.exe http://ftp.gravis.com/Public/pcstick/grvutl4.zip which fully excercise the joystick port. If it works here & not in Privateer, it's a game issue.

You're not looking close enough. The update to sdlmain only handles at most four buttons & four axis. The extra buttons never get to those structures.

Is that going to be the new handler? If so, could we agree to convert the pocket of scancodes handled in decimal back to hex? I can convert in my head but it's annoying as most references are in hex and it just slows things down when working things out.
