Win 3.0 had a different VGA palette in its driver IIRC. Win3.1's VGA driver uses the palette everyone knows (And the other VGA driver became an alternate choice in some MMPACK that some OEMS ship sometimes)

Basically it provides a closer to original hardware experience. If that's not what you're after though, then there's no reason to prefer it over DOSBox. One plain DOS game PCem definitely handles better than DOSBox is the Thor series :) DOSBox's keyboard code sends that into gamebreaking territory …

I just tried that september build out with my game that I don't want to show much of. I'm surprised how far this has come so quickly! (Had to run this in Wine 1.7 instead of 4.0 for some reason. Also vertex shader extensions couldn't work, and there's no color control so the traditional q3 …
