There's also the potential for anisotropic filtering and FSAA/SSAA out on the crt effects when it's a 3d object. It's actually the kind of thing i wanted when I dreamed of a CRT emulator some 10 years ago.

In the US at least it was a purple CD with just a 'gravis experience' control mapper+driver. They connected to sound cards' midi ports yes.

I've had some old (1992-94) games that ImgBurn couldn't clone properly but CloneDVD can so there's the preference of software to watch out for.

There's been plenty of old scene rips of booter games since the 80s that would dump the disk to some bin file and have a little loader program to go with it (where a nice cracktro would also go) sometimes with an additional function to quit back to dos.

Well you can't compile PCem on a Pi as x86 architectures are required (can't compile with interpreters only currently), and you can't run VirtualBox on a Pi, so I think we can safely rule out the Pi....

They'll only show up if you have an Endeavor, Advanced/EV or 430VX bios. Pentium Overdrives also show up for the 486s
