Probably helps 3dfx had 3dnow! optimizations in their drivers. It's pretty evident here seeing it how it gets past a bit of the CPU bottleneck 😀 A Radeon 7xxx card could be part of this chart...

When it comes to performance, i'd hold the entire FX series with complete disregard (especially against R300, even the 9500 PRO toasts the series let alone a freaking 9800). Their faster cards aren't known for being relatively quiet either. I only use FX5200s as makeshift Geforce2s.

Voodoo2 also has moving diagonal lines also. They're VERY noticable on LCD... and no they're not something i'll do in the shader 🤣

AWE64 has DirectSound support so yes, it in theory should work with anything that uses that API, which means other Windows games much much more modern than Mechwarrior 2. The real problem are some of the flakier, cheaper or exotic ISA sound cards that may not have Directsound support ever, like some …

I stand corrected as I was majorly confused. I don't really follow japanese flavors of DOS because, well.... i don't really live in Japan and my stint with PC-98 has only been for playing Popful Mail. Submitting a patch is a possibility btw.

Sounds like the typical 'Fullscreen Surface mode on Nvidia palette slowness' problem. Either change output mode in config or just play it in a window.

Build a Pentium IV 2GHz DOS system if you wish to play Blood smoothly at 1280x1024. Yes, it demands *that* much CPU. This is not a peculiar problem.

All I can think of is Cubic Player which was for DOS. It detects the AWE32 and AWE64, uploads samples to it and uses it.

Other than 3dfx Voodoo, what other cards support this extension? Driver version provided if available, since I know there's some Geforce drivers that don't support it. The list here is incomplete.
