Re: Midi daughterboard trouble

Hello gerwin, sorry for my late response. If you still are insterested in sending me the samples you made, please look at your private messages. Otherwise nice work. When I get my EWS64XL, I will do some testing myself. Locutus

Re: 2nd hand DB50XG Midi daughterboard trouble

Hello, In your setup, the reversed stereo issue doesn't necessarily have to do something with the DB50XG . The host card can also have an influence on that one. Before you risk to modify your DB50XG, why not rather get a cheap SB16 from eBay and see if the problem persits when that one is used as a …

Re: 2nd hand DB50XG Midi daughterboard trouble

Hi gerwin! Interesting question. I didn't experience clipping with my DB50XG, but with my SW1000XG and even the S-YXG50 soft synth in some situations. I guess, when using MIDI gear, you are never safe from experiencing clipping. I even get clipping with my professional Motif ES6 music production …

Re: Two Sound Blasters in One System

Disabling port 388h via CTCM is possible, but only if you deactivate the whole SB16 core as well (doesn't make much sense). Are you talking about Privateer or Privateer 2? Because at the moment I am playing Privateer 2 under plain DOS and the music tempo varies over time depending on how much vessels are in the system and how long I have been playing. This seems to be a bug in the game, since I am using a real DOS …

Re: Sound cards - from best to worst

Hello Silent Loon and thanks for all the input! Actually I don't consider "real" OPL3 a must, it's little more than nice to have. Going through all the specs you have posted, I think the EWS64 series might be the right thing for me to try. I went through the driver and documentation archives on …

Re: Sound cards - from best to worst

Hello! Lately, I more and more feel the urge to get away from Creative cards. They are buggy (MPU401), noisy and cheap and not SB Pro compatible like Marek pointed out. I can sing you a song about hanging notes when it comes to daughterboards, for that matter. Although I really must say the PNP …
