Re: Trouble with hosting multiplayer games

If there's no application listening on the port, the port could appear "stealthy" for a scan from the outside, depending on how your router works, and how it's configured. Remember you'll have to open _and_ forward the port to the correct IP address in your LAN.

Re: GUS is not detected

Also, check your settings carefully (IRQ/DMA/etc.). Have a look at the dosbox.conf file to see the actual values. Maybe disable SB via dosbox.conf, so that possible autodetection doesn't get confused. I think digital sound should work in all games without the patches.

Re: Descent 1 - Local Area Game

Yeah a full tutorial on network connectivity (including a quick rundown on routers, firewalls, etc.) is probably too much. For pete's sake, if you have a problem, then _DESCRIBE_ it instead of saying "it doesn't work". You could start by describing how you want to run the game (LAN/WAN), and what …

Re: Capturing Warcraft II Dos music

I don't fully understand the OP's problem, but it seems he (or she) is trying to capture video with DOSBox, and doesn't get music in the captures, although it's playing during the capture. WCII has CDDA and MIDI soundtracks, AFAIK. I don't know if the CDDA music is captured (the OP should try what …

Re: CD Installation Problem with Fable

Hmmmm... I'm out of ideas, then. Don't have the game to test it with DOSBox. The DOSBox website says the game should be playable. Did you try installing the DOS version of the game in Windows, and then playing it in DOSBox? This is generally not recommended, but may be a workaround in this case. You …

Re: Normal4x continued, with permission.

Yeah. Elamaton, I'm sorry i have to say that, but you've been behaving like a d*ck. You come storming in here, demanding the implementation of features into DOSBox like you're a paying customer, and generally loudmouthing about topics you do not have an idea of (see the "close to 100% illegal" …

Re: CD Installation Problem with Fable

When I get to the "Installation Path" part in the install.exe and press OK, it gives me a "Device doesn't exist!" message. This looks to me like a problem with the HD rather than a problem with the CD, so all that "usecd" talk might lead in the wrong direction. phildaman46, can you install other …

Re: Gaming Value of a GUS

in PC Emulation
I'm not sure which games supported the GUS directly, but i think most of them were "small" titles from European developers, mainy the ones coming from the demo scene. As Marek wrote, Epic had some games, and i believe the "21st Century Pinball"-titles came with special GUS support. The tracker …

Re: Help me identify some games.

The last game sounds like a description of "Thanatos". The game is quite crappy IMO, but the C-64 version (which i've played) has a superb soundtrack by the legendary Rob Hubbard. I pity you if you've played it on the CPC, as the CPC was _horrible_ in terms of sound and music (; . The CPC had a …

Re: OMG someone please help me

in DOS
KAN is obviously capable of reading our minds! (; The OP didn't mention DOSBox at all. The post is in the DOS forum. The "mount" comment could be related to mounting a CD image (the game seems to come on a CD). But all of that doesn't change the basic problem: the OP is indeed trying to run a …

Re: Multiplayer problem Blood

I'm pretty sure the persons you've mentioned can speak for themself if they feel disturbed my by "sarcasm" comment. As i wrote, my point was not a discussion about sarcasm. I was trying to learn something about how DOSBox works, and to help the OP.

Re: Multiplayer problem Blood

There's no sarcasm in the above posts. I beg to differ. But the point of my post wasn't to discuss the nuances of posting style, anway. (; It's a fact that tcp/ip isn't "same city" local if you're using internet-accessible ip addresses, as explained in several threads already. Ehm... I'm not quite …
