Re: Menzoberranzan voices

in DOS
Have you configured menzo to play sounds? Use sound_pm.exe to configure sound card. watch out for correct port, irq and dma dosbox values (see them in dosbox.conf)

Re: My old Laptop, no sound with ES1968 Maestro2[solved]

in PC Emulation
I'm happy you solved your problem but you're not 100% professional  : ideal situation to play old Dos&Win95 games is a "multiboot" system like my old P200MMX (Pure Dos 6.2 or Windows ME). It was a nasty bitch to find working dos drivers for my soundcard (sound blaster pci 128) but now it works …

Re: What the hell is this s**t ?!? :)

in PC Emulation
yeah, it has got a knob (mark: 4KT 425M - Piher Spain) probably for volume control, but I tried it and it seems to change nothing, maybe it's broken. And sound quality is really awful, expecially speech, lot of background static noise (even with his bundle software).

Re: IBM PS/1 Audio Card.

there is an inaccuracy in the gamelist: King's quest 5 also uses DAC, start a game and go 2 or 3 screens to the west (where there are the gypsies) and wait, you'll hear a cow bellow sometimes. Larry 5 & 6  and Castle of dr.brain work flawless with ps/1 (SN/DAC) apart some subtle dac pitch …

Re: What the hell is this s**t ?!? :)

in PC Emulation
Sounds like a shit (it sounds like early 80's arcade voice samples) but it works with it's original software and Intertia player (and other Covox compatible software I hope). But selecting disney sound source with games that supported it, all I can hear is static and garbled noise. Probably a low …

What the hell is this s**t ?!? :)

yeah yeah I know ... bad quality pics but my photocamera is gone, so I used a crappy cellphone :D http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/3439/photo0265ei0.jpg http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/9821/photo0266da1.jpg http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/5967/photo0267rc4.jpg http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/ …

Re: IBM PS/1 Audio Card.

I'm not a programmer or a hardware expert, but maybe those pitch/speed problems due to the fact that the real Ps1 audio card doesn't use real SN/DAC chips but similar and not perfectly compatible with tandy ones used in the emulation. However with this second beta, emulation is awesome: no more …

Re: IBM PS/1 Audio Card.

Here is the Ps/1 motherboard. http://myloch.altervista.org/_altervista_ht/DSCN8605.JPG The sound card was connected to this mobo via one of the two "24 pins". yes, there is a "D" on the soundcard "CR1" component. Hope this can be of some help.

Re: IBM PS/1 Audio Card.

Here are some photos (I will do better ones when I'll have some free time, if it's necessary): http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/433/photo0263ey7.jpg http://myloch.altervista.org/_altervista_ht/DSCN8599.JPG http://myloch.altervista.org/_altervista_ht/DSCN8600.JPG http://myloch.altervista.org/_ …

Re: IBM PS/1 Audio Card.

yes this is a mistery. I dunno if it's like Jal said because some games seem correct and I cannot be 100% sure the difference is exactly 1 semitone. In Bushbuck the problem is more evident and it has obviously something wrong. I'm looking for some old tape recordings of Ps/1 songs I made when I was …

Re: IBM PS/1 Audio Card.

Made other tests and I'm pretty sure that SN76496 music generated pitch and speed for Bush Buck are wrong: they should be "pitch +1 st" and "speed +3%". No problems with Prince of persia 1 and 2 (100% correct SN76496 and DAC). Another situation for King's Quest 5 and Silpheed (100% correct SN76496 …

Re: IBM PS/1 Audio Card.

Oh fuck... you're THE MAN Jmk... I waited for Ps/1 soundcard emulation for AGES!!! I'm so happy that I'm crying :D I had an IBM PS/1 386sx 20mhz when I was a child and now finally I can play again Silpheed and Bushbuck with decent music/sound. Note: other games that supported Ibm ps1 card were Roger …
