Re: What old games are still on your wants list?

in Milliways
Heh... Ok, yeah. I know, 16 months old and whatnot, but I thought DOS_Boy might like it regardless... Not the most common item on ebay, so... (though hindsight beeing 20-20 etc, prob would've been better just sending a message) Oh well - wonder who actually got it, for the best offer ? Anyone …

A game named Rooms of Doom. I saw it for sale once on ebay, but i missed the bid. In case any of you know where I can find it, please let me know! Well, a bit pricier than last time, but still.... :happyhappy: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Rooms-Doom-PC-Dos-Complete-Big-Box-Game-Super-Rare-/310228376046?cmd= …

Re: keyboard clear caps - IBM model M

in Milliways
Thanks for the tip  But.... What I really want is to change the visible text/whatever on top of some caps, temporarily. My idea was to be able to print my own tiny labels as I saw fit, and change around etc... depending on what game I would be playing. So clear caps is really what I need. …

keyboard clear caps - IBM model M

Anyone tried these ? http://www.fentek-ind.com/keys.htm I sure would like to try a set or 2, but seems rather expencive - you could buy a couple of new keyboards for the same price. ($20 for 10 keys, + $10 s/h within the US) And, for me (non-US) they don't accept intl credit cards, neither paypal - …

Re: P200mmx DOS machine

Thanks! That was quick... :happyhappy: Sounds promising! Maybe I'll go for that mobo then. I'll do some more pondering first, of course...heh What would worry me most would be issues with the hdd, and related (undiscovered) errors etc. Anyway, about the AT vs ATX PSU 'issues' etc - any thoughts ? …

Re: P200mmx DOS machine

@ keropi: - Was wondering about that particular mobo. How does it fare ? Any problems by now? I suppose chipset drivers are not that big an issue under DOS, or... ? (been trying to read up on the MVP3, and what issues to expect, VIA etc) I'm contemplating building a similar box(P90-P166ish), have …

Avernum & Geneforge series - Has anyone played any of these ?

Never heard of these before, but look kinda interestingish... http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/products.html Those of you that have tried any of them, what would you compare them to, and how would you rate them ? Worth acquiring ? I can of course deduct something myself from reading the info on the …

Re: S3 Savage 2000

I seem to have acquired an S3 Savage4-LT (8MB), are these any good for anything ? Dos? Windows? Socket7? From the wiki, it looks like its slightly better than a TNT... :dead: (and... intended for Laptops ?!) The box art says AGP, but there's a sticker telling me it is PCI. Which also is evident from …

Re: Win98 chipset drivers on modern hardware?

I stand corrected ! 🤣 😁 =P PS: I still think it is just wrong(evil!) to put the mouse port at the very (top) corner of the board - logically it should be the keyboard, even if the port 'tower' has been tilted horizontally for this particular mobo... ATX standards'n'all that.... 😜

Re: Win98 chipset drivers on modern hardware?

Eh.... well.... I'm now officially a (happy) member of the noobz club (again...) ! :happyhappy: Actually I found out what I had been doing wrong. Brace yourselves: I repeatedly connected the cable to the MOUSE port...! The obvious reason for this beeing that I've never encountered a microATX before, …

Heh, seems like this thread has taken the topic name to heart, and is living it's own life... - Anyways, if anyone is more than vaguely familiar with the winxp boot(and/or file system) quirks and functionality, drop me a word/link on how to overcome/remove a hung boot - as image restore (C) …

KEYBOARD BLUES.... Well, been a while, but I now stumbled upon a cheap board, so.... Namely the 775i65G mATX everyone else seem to have. But I'm starting to wonder, if there was a reason for only paying £6 for it (also included 2x memory sticks, a Celeron CPU and fan). I do get a picture on …
