Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

Blood needs 53 MiB of RAM and always uses EMS if an EMS manager is active. The trouble is - EMM386 emulates 32 MiB EMS. Or less. Run Blood with the XMS only setup (the NOEMS option for EMM386.EXE). That's wrong information. Blood is a DOS/4GW game, it runs in 32-bit protected mode using DOS …

Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

Once I replace a Parity SIMM I purchased by mistake with a non-Parity SIMM it seems to work just fine. Have a universal in a AWE 64 Value Edition. Still trying to figure out how to connect my front panel headphone & microphone jacks up, but the RAM works fine :) The SIMM I used is just a generic …

Re: Ebay thread goodbye thread

I would be extremely shocked if they really stay gone :( It might be nice, but people like that generally enjoy causing problems so much that, when they find a place they have fun at, they refuse to leave for any extended period. They may create new accounts, but they'll most likely be back. In my …

Re: File Timestamp (DOSBOX Windows XP+)

I'm mainly here this time in the hopes of getting an up date from NewRisingSun :) Fixes are continuing to be committed, and some of them sound like I might want to incorporate them. I know you have other things (your own relaxation, maybe a job and/or other responsibilities,) so I'm not trying to …

AWE64 Connector Specs?

I'm trying to connect my front panel ports to the AWE64 and cannot find reliable pin outs for the AWE64 connectors. They are clearly labeled, but not which pin is which. What would be even better would be an adapter to plug an AC97 or HD Audio plug directly to the correct connectors on the AWE64. …

Re: Ebay thread goodbye thread

I said my goodbye in the thread, but I'll repeat it here: I'm sad to see it go, as it pointed me to items I may not of thought of on my own. While I never actually purchased any of the items I was shown, I came close to doing so on occasion. Farewell interesting thread, and thanks again to everyone …

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

Run time slow down programs usually do this by eating CPU cycles (not always.) This may not work for low level drivers. To work with those usually requires a lower level, BIOS or lower usually. That includes lowering the FSB, disabling the L1 and/or L2 cache, lowering the clock multiplier, or …

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

In this context, Slow CPU = to reduce the speed of the CPU in use. Usually accomplished by reducing the FSB (Front Side Buss) speed. The PIII-500 Mhz is probably FSB 100 Mhz with a x5 Multiplier (IIRC.) So, dropping the FSB to 50 Mhz would slow the system down to 250 Mhz. Which is more in line with …

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

I had a lot of problems getting my Voodoo cards to be detected correctly with various drivers & games. In the end the fix was simply to slow down my system a bit. Check and see if there are any tools for your MB that will allow you to change FSB & such on the fly. That's the solution I ended up …

Re: File Timestamp (DOSBOX Windows XP+)

Greatly appreciated :) In all honesty, I'm not worried about absolute accuracy on modern timestamps (in DOSBox.) I'm not even completely sure which patch I had been using up till now. I know I had tweaked it to also cover commands that (in DOS,) would preserve timestamps as well (Copy, Move, etc...) …
