Re: Frustrating Compile Issues :(

Not in text modes. Standard DosBox seems to enforce a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio in these for reasons unknown to me, whereas SVN Daum does not. Yes, of course not. I always forget that the aspect ratio correction does not apply to text mode. Ok, time for more testing... All my tests were done in text …

Re: Frustrating Compile Issues :(

Issue #1: Dosbox uses a custom SDL-1.2.12 DLL to fix some issues with DirectDraw. You can find the modifications in src/platform/sdl-win32.diff. I think you could apply that patch to the latest SDL 1.2.x too. Ooh, I didn't see that... Is this listed somewhere, some instructions I missed? If so, …

Frustrating Compile Issues :(

Actually 2 topics, the second more of a feature request/question.... First, what versions of SDL and SDL_Net is DOSBox looking for at compile time. The properties of SDL.DLL details says 1.2.13, but the size is totally different from both the release version and what I end up compiling of that …

Re: Beta Testers?

Remember what I said about something silly? Well, it turns out that I was using an "unsigned short" variable to temporarily hold the "unsigned long" file size while converting it to text for display. The "unsigned short" (or just "unsigned" in c++,) can only go up to a max value of 65535. The " …

Re: Beta Testers?

Yes on second look most sizes are correct, it tends to choke on file sizes between 100kB and 1MB. That could actually help quite a bit. Will have to look at the code to be sure, though. I didn't notice a pattern myself. But then, I'm seriously multi-tasking right now. Install, install, install :/ …

Re: Beta Testers?

Ack... OK, no idea what's up with that.... Got new HW in, as soon as I get stuff re-installed, I'll try and figure that out. Going through the code, I can't see what could be causing it. It seem rather sporadic though. Some of the file sizes match (what the vanilla dir command gives.) I'll probably …

Re: Beta Testers?

Ok, some bug fixes and code tightening done. Also made small changes to make the 2 versions closer to the same. Note: The DOS stub is still limited to 2849 files & directories. In the end, I'm pretty much going to keep the help/error messages as they are. I will be adding a readme.txt file …

Re: Beta Testers?

Updated the colors. Exe was the only thing LightCyan and com the only one LightGreen. Since I had put dll as DarkGreen, making both exe and com light green makes sort of sense. Exe and com are full executables, and dll's are sort of semi-executables :) On older systems exe and com files were worlds …

Re: Beta Testers?

Ok, bug fix releases of the 2 original versions, and first release of Windows version using 64 bit math. I have no idea if it will work in a 32 bit OS (which is why the 32 bit math version is still available.) If it works, great, I'll keep the 32 bit math version around for when I start building …

Re: Beta Testers?

Yes they can, because Virtual 8086 mode is available from within i386 protected mode. Um "Virtual 8086 Mode"? Doesn't the word Virtual give it away? It is a virtualization that is contained in hardware on 32 bit processors (most of them at least.) Win95 and beyond did away with using hardware …

Re: Beta Testers?

Forgot to ask, I'm starting the alterations to use 64-bit math with the Win-32 version (__int64 or long long, instead of the 32 bit long limit in 16-bit DOS.) Now, the math I used to convert the 32-bit values of 16-bit DOS to handle the 64-bit sizes generated on modern systems (since I wanted to …

Re: Beta Testers?

MS's new 64-bit OS rules It's not Microsoft's rules. V86 mode isn't available when the CPU is in long mode. Sorry about the delay, wanted to re-do my research before replying. It could actually be more accurately described as MS's laziness than MS's rules. Technically, no previous bit structure can …

Re: Beta Testers?

Just updating the first post is a Lot simpler :) Going to do that from now on. In all honesty, I didn't know I could edit a post with replies. Some forums won't let you do that. As for the .com file... Back when I first started learning (it was the late 80's,) my instructor said I should make .com …

Re: Beta Testers?

It works fine in Windows XP 32, and the DOS version works fine on a 486 with DOS 7.10. Seems like a good program, I like the default sorting, and the default colors. A minor point I don't like is the blank lines it adds before and after the output. Thanks for this. A minor tweak to change that. In …

Beta Testers?

Would this be a good place to find beta testers? Nobody may ever want this, but when my favorite directory utility failed because of MS's new 64-bit OS rules, I started writing my own version. Someone else already revamped something similar, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, and I was …

Any willing beta testers for DOS app?

Really not sure if this is appropriate here. But when my d.com stopped working in 64-bit OS, I went looking for a replacement and ended up writing my own (after studying someone else's similar program's code.) I've attached the DOS version here and am hoping people are willing to test it out. I've …

Re: Anyone have code for D.com & List.com?

in DOS
Backport finished (I hope.) Again, can't find anything wrong, but as soon as I say that..... Back port wasn't really that difficult, I just took the some of the code cleanup and put it in the old. Did manage to break a couple of things doing that, though. Fixed them up (I think.) I also liked my new …

Re: Anyone have code for D.com & List.com?

in DOS
It never fails, as soon as I say I can't find anything wrong and post it.... A dozen problem suddenly jump up and say "ha ha, missed me!!" Well, after a couple of major revision and a bunch of minor corrections.... Another version. Sorry about that. A partial list of the corrections..... 1) File …

Re: Anyone have code for D.com & List.com?

in DOS
Ok, please disregard the deleted post, it was never there....... Didn't check to see if there were any downloads or not, but came across some nasty bugs I had missed while porting to windows. So, the "final" DOS version is nothing of the sort. ((ps... by nasty, I meant stupid illogical paths I put …

Re: Anyone have code for D.com & List.com?

in DOS
OK, it turns out it was a simple fix. Problem is, that even though I can now compile it in another compiler, it doesn't work. Just comes up with a complex error screen. So, going to take the pieces of code from this that I like, and start a new line of attack. So, this is the last release on this …
