I remember when I first got my Dell Optiplex off ebay in 2005, it had a "MS-DOS 7.1" loading screen that looked just like Windows 98, complete with the blue sky background. I wiped it and installed my real copy of '98. I kind of miss that screen!

I just got a Quantum3D Graphite system off ebay for $150. The seller said there was a "GeForce 3" in it, but I think I'll stick my Voodoo 5 in that rig! 😀 It's not a Mercury brick, but it's cool 3dfx tech nonetheless. I'll post pics once it arrives in the mail.

I guess I was lucky, my Voodoo 5 was around $45 bucks or so. I guess nobody else saw it when I bid on it! 😀 The only problem is I need a compatible motherboard for it...processor...memory, etc. It won't fit in my XP machine or the Dell. 1.5v AGP only, I'm afraid.

Though it's not a PC hardware device, it is retro- I bought what I thought was a replacement PS1 laser lens/motor to fix my old Playstation. What I got...was an Xbox 360 hard drive from China. Me and the ebay seller are gonna be havin' some words. 😒

I used to work security at a TRW about ten years ago, they had everything from SGI workstations to an old '286 in turbo mode running mechanical shop components. Awesome place, I miss those guys.

I'm also using an XP system with an AGP NVidia FX card- 5900 XT. I use two Black Magic Voodoo 2's in SLI mode for the 3dfx titles. I've always been a big fan of the FX card. I still have my demo discs with the Dawn/Dusk, Ogre and Werewolf programs.
