The goal is to see how well the games run. Good performance should be 10-15 fps on each game at 512x386 or 640x480 resolutions! I'll see if I can find dethkarz, should be interesting!

We'll give it a try. MaxWar, Hexen 2 should run, as it is based on idtech1 (Quake 1 Engine). Obviously it will be insanely slow in software mode, I'm curious as to how such games will perform in OpenGL with the aid of the Voodoo 2 cards though!

Well, Half-Life 2 vanilla with a 6600GT was giving me around 20fps at Medium Details and 1280x1024 if I'm not mistaken which isn't all that playable. I don't imagine Doom III and Quake 4 would be any better. I'll have to try Far Cry and see how it fares though!

30fps is nice, as long as it is constant and doesn't dip lower than 20 fps at any given moment. Voodoo 2 and 3 were great all the way to early 2000. Even on a 100MHz FSB, K6-2 CPUs are slow. Don't expect any miracles, the Pentium 2 and 3 were quite a bit faster than the K6-2 and K6-3 processors in games.

Indeed, you shouldn't really see any big difference. GeForce 4 Ti4600 should already be kinda bottlenecked by a P3-S 1.4 The cpu is just too slow to be provide faster frames. I gave Half Life 2 a try on my P3-S and 6600GT and it was giving me around 20-25fps on Medium Details under Win98SE. …

Soul Reaver 2 was mostly a disappointment in the gameplay department, but the plot was absolutely amazing. Totally worth 6 dollars. Still can't top the original or Defiance though.
