I have made no tests with my card other than getting it recognized from the driver under DOS and having it pass the memtest... Isn't the TDA1308 a drop-in replacement? Since it's a Philips part I don't think it will be crap ?

yes either use the driver's setup to test for ram or see if the attached GUSDRAM program works for the MAX - it tests the ram fine on my Classic card

try programming the .jic YES! this worked , in my case I had to manually tick the "Program / Configure" checkbox and just hit Start leaving the devices diagram as-is. nah I have no idea how to compile this ... I just put the .SOF in the root of D:\ and open it - I have deleted all other *.sof files from there and programmed it 4-5 times in a row, I get the success message on the quartus message area but no change in color behavior.
