Empty cap spots are normal, manufacturers change the hardware revision but still use the same pcb. So some caps are not used, others are changed with other values and so on... Personally I'd just use the same capacitance caps as the original design and the same number of caps on the same spots... :) …

when replacing capacitors be sure that you get: * the same capacitance value * the same or greated voltage tolerance value (meaning you can replace a 10μF/6.3v with a 10μF/16v one) * the same or greater temperature tolerance value (there is really no point in using 85 degrees caps, stick to 105 ones …

On my systems the unofficial sp only added stability. And pretty win2k colors. Especially on a p4 glide build (or something recent) you get lots of crap without the sp installed. That's my experience.

nope, gave it the roland mpu address. I am almost 99% sure though that I also needed to enable the sb16 mpu in order to get softmpu going... When tested I gave it the sb's 220 port, sb's irq 5 and roland's 330 port
