I could never get more than 1500-1700kb/sec from my 1.4 tualatin running winME with a rtl8139 network card and i815 chipset... same cables/setup on a pc running XP for example give the expected 9-10mb/sec ... I think it's a 9x "problem" because I get ~1200kb/sec on my p200mmx/98SE machine

Malik has it all mapped out for you. :) Regarding Riva128, I am not sure about its DOS game compatibility. RivaTNT 1/2 are probably an improvement in that area though just as in every other area. I say don't bother with Riva128. Wrong, the 128(zx) offers EXCELLENT DOS compatibility and it's fast. …

on my p200mmx I use an AGP riva128ZX/8MB that has built-in vesa3.0 support... I get 30-60fps in 640*480 ... it plays fine you should have no probs reaching 60fps with a p2/300 remember to use FASTVID to speedup your vga in your pII setup... ( http://www.mdgx.com/umb.htm#FAS )

^ typical cost-cutting techniques: smaller heatsink (= cheaper) and a fixed rpm fan to compensate on that... at least it's a different revision pcb (newer I assume) and it might be free from the problems of the earlier revisions...

I am having a hard time locating my project files... 🙁 IIRC you could not tell a difference between the adaptor and a real ps2 mouseport... only tested in DOS though not fancy setups... I'll keep searching to provide the files so you can build your own devices

wow! well, after 3 years I must admit I have only made 1 converter for a friend... @elianda: the controller sits in the middle of the serial-ps2 protocols and translates. it has to do 2-way translations like all adapters of this kind, the serial both sends and receives data from the ps2 mouse and …
