Re: WTB: 5 1/4 PC floppy drive

Since the PCs these machines are usually found in are pretty old it wouldn't be surprising if the 5.25 inch drive stopped reading disks due to dust build up as well. It goes without saying that your first line of attack should be to bast the hell out of the non working drive with some canned air. I …

maybe an explanation why no PARs for CD/DVD-Rom games are accepted would be helpful - Well the reason you proffer is a good reason, as well as the reason suggested by collector, but my reasoning for not including DVD/CD PAR2s is more because I felt that it might cause more heat having what appears …

Are you going to add version information? Many games have more than one version for distribution, because of bug fixes, refinements, etc. I think the best way to do this right now is on the user side. I only have one version of the disks and sometimes theres no way to tell what version I have. If …

There's no need to register to download. There is a small bug I'm working on that prevents download links from working when you perform a search but if you manually go through the database you can download without logging in. I didn't want to discourage anyone from using the site as a resource to …

GameRez.ORG is Live.

in DOS
Hey everyone, I recently came to VOGONS searching for a way to repair my corrupted classic games disk. Soon after arriving here it was suggested that there really is no good resource for repairing corrupted vintage game floppies. A member here 'Vasyl' suggested it would be great to have a PAR2 …

Pentium 90 Socket 7

Been trying to figure out if the Pentium 90 was ever produced as a Socket 7 chip or only Socket 5. If it was produced as a socket 7 chip, could I replace it with say a 233MMX Socket 7 chip or would i still depend on the motherboard?

Re: Tomb Raider II - No textures

Thank you all for the help, It appears that it was simply a DX version. While I believed I had installed DX6 on 95 I may not have, but I found a good install for DX6.1 and that took care of the problems. Thank you all for your assistance I wouldn't have fixed this without your suggestions.

Re: Tomb Raider II - No textures

Sure, I'll take a screenshot ASAP but I've got some other interesting news as well...It works under '98SE... I installed the same driver for the Voodoo2 under 98 and 95 but I'll have to check and see if the DX version is different...I'm running DX6 on 95 but not sure whats running on 98SE. I have to …

Re: Tomb Raider II - No textures

You are right, the environmental variables didn't do anything... I'm wondering what the problem is I remember playing Tomb Raider 2 back in the day on a Voodoo2...Maybe there are just some particular drivers that make it work? When you play the game all the shading is there the lightmaps etc...its …

Re: Tomb Raider II - No textures

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'm going to try all of them and let you know what works, as far as the resolution im running it at 640X480 so I don't think its a problem with memory. I think the suggestion about environmental variables being important in WIn95 sounds promising and I'm gonna …

Tomb Raider II - No textures

Hey all, just got my vintage PC up and running and wanted to try out TR2. Currently I'm running Win'95 w DX-6, The Latest Voodoo2 drivers I think 3.0.1.1 or something like that for DX-6, I'm using the Diamond Monster II board for the 3d, I've run several other games and had no issues. The weird …

Re: SC-55 MKII vs. SCC-1

This would be fantastic! I'm in california, zip code 94941, let me know what your shipping costs would be and how you want payment rendered and I'll set it up today. This is really a great help to me, I greatly appreciate it. I sent you a private message to continue discussion.

Re: SC-55 MKII vs. SCC-1

Thanks for the info what interface should I get if I intend to use these modules solely for games? It needs to be ISA but I have a feeling I really dont have a choice about that....Model numbers appriciated. =)

SC-55 MKII vs. SCC-1

If i get an intelligent MPU-401 interface is the SC-55 MKII any different from the SCC-1? I'd like to get the external model if it is indeed identical to the SCC-1 and then I can swap it out with the external MT-32 whenever I wanted to right? Is there any reason to get the SCC-1 over the SC-55 MKII …
