Re: Proprietary 3D API's

in PC Emulation
There's also Glide support too. i also thought so until I read this (last sentence). i remember the box for my mystique it listed b-Render as a supported api BRender is more like DirectX or OpenGL - it runs on various hardware and I'm looking for API's that work only on hardware from the API …

Re: Proprietary 3D API's

I don't know... maybe you could download the patch from www.patches-scrolls.de and check it with ATI. And I remember playing Final Fantasy VII with ATI and Voodoo cards. There are some patches that would help (1.04), but my Geforce 7900 can not do 8 bit textures, so I can not set the hardware …

Re: Proprietary 3D API's

Hardware acceleration in Final Fantasy VII PC is likewise only compatible with a very small range of cards, including the Rage Pro. FFVII uses DirectX AFAIK - it can be launched even on modern cards although it states it's only Riva 128/TNT compatible. (I managed to run it accelerated on Radeon …

Proprietary 3D API's

in PC Emulation
Hi! I try to compile information about the early 3D accelerators. I already found a lot here, but I would like to ask some questions. I'm especially interested iin the early 3D API's, chips that support them and games that use them. Glide - not much to say here. It's the most popular proprietary 3D …

Re: Matching CPUs with Voodoo cards

in PC Emulation
You'll find you have less compatibility trouble if you go with a live! it really does it all (get a live! drive for extra fun). Nothing precludes you from having both though. Also, I'd imagine the live! can load the soundfont that comes with FF7 equally as well as the awe64 can (better in fact, as …

Re: Matching CPUs with Voodoo cards

Welcome GL1zdA, remember that - if you don't have the PCI version - all Voodoo5s are for the agp 2x slot, they run with 3.3V, NOT with 1.5V (AGP 4x) or 0.8V (AGP 8x). Running a 3.3.V card in a 1.5V Slot will destroy the card and / or the board! Normally cards and slots are keyed so you can't mix …

Re: Matching CPUs with Voodoo cards

1st - p233 MMX. Get an asus tx chipset board for this. I think the voodoo 1 is fill rate limited (640x480 max support), probably doesn't matter if you go higher than this. The riva 128 might benefit from a faster CPU, but a p2 class cpu is a mismatch for this video card. A 233 is probably about as …

Matching CPUs with Voodoo cards

in PC Emulation
Hi! Could you help me choose the best CPU for some Voodoo based configurations? All machines would run Win98 and would be used for games available in 2000 and older (Win9x games and DosGlide games). 1st: Riva 128 + Voodoo 2nd: Riva TNT + 2x Voodoo 2 SLI 3rd: Voodoo 5500 For the first I would choose …
