Make sure your RAM contacts are clean. I swab everything out of principal. I got a set of four matched 16MB SIMM on Ebay. They looked fine, but memtest would actually halt. Some games and other programs will crash at CPU speeds 200 Mhz and above. Jazz JackRabbit is a known game. I believe that 64MB of ram is the most 6.22 /3.11 can use. Some of the older ATI Rage PRO cards work with Mach64 drivers.

Yup, that would be the reason then. E/EB cpus have 133 Mhz FSBs, and the none E/EB have 100Mhz. The BX chipset doesn't officially support 133Mhz operation, and the multiplier is locked. 4.5 x 133 = 600 4.5 x 100 = 450 4.5 x 66 = 300

Incidentally, are you sure that is a CGA card and not an EGA card? I don't think I have ever seen a CGA with the two RCA jacks on it. I believe monochrome and EGA use the same dip setting, but I could be wrong. Also, is that not the same XT board Red Hill talks about? EDIT: Nope, Google says CGA.

Do you have the latest BIOS for that board? A lot of the slot 1 boards, especially the older ones, get kind of funky when you stick a Katmai or Coppermine in it and the BIOS has not been updated. They won't detect correctly, or the cache won't work, or won't detect the speed correctly because …

Dumb, but try swabbing the edge contacts with a Qtip. Water is fine, alcohol is better.
