The emulated code should not be able to crash DOSBox. :-) It's not used intentionally as far as I know (though someone might use it for anti-debug), but a bad copy of Lychnis demonstrated the behaviour.

CASE_W(0x8d) ... *rmrw=(Bit16u)(*EATable[rm])(); If rm contains an illegal value (for whatever reason), then DOSBox crashes. The illegal EA entries should probably be set to call int6 or exit or something, not contain null.

I seem to remember that X-Men also requires the cputype=386_prefetch option to be set in the configuration, otherwise the game will crash. It might be related somehow.

Kegs for Apple IIGS, except that the palette is wrong in double-hires (not that you'd know it if you're not familiar with the original). I always preferred Nestopia for NES stuff.

We need more information. What do you mean by "crashes"? Perhaps "Sample driver not set to DEFAULT"? Please start by telling us from where you got the game. :-) Then how you mounted your drives, and what you typed in DOSBox.

Here's a fix for the rename problem in Pirateer. Run the piratfix.com instead of start.bat. However, the n-tilda character problem remains. As ripsaw noted, both data\caban~a and fonts\n~.fon must be renamed, and the basic code edited appropriately.

Deathlord. Ultima-style RPG with a Japanese theme. Apple II/C64 only. Captain Goodnight... maybe. You either love it or hate it. Apple II only Randamn, Black Magic, Short Circuit. Apple II only. Tracer Sanction. Not on the Atari or Amiga.

If you type Zyll to run it, then it's not a booter. If you have zyll.com (62032 bytes long) and nothing else, then you're missing the zyll.dat (159744 bytes long). If you have something else, then it's an entirely different version...

A file-based version exists, which does work (saves in the zyll.dat file). For the booter, you can create a floppy disk image with the attached tool (creates zyllsave.img).

The aPLib code compresses better than the routines in aPack do. The DOS compression market was huge. :-) Crunch, LZExe, PKLite, WWPack, ... For Windows, ANDpakk2 was updated to 0.18.

Extract the .com file from the zip file from my site, place it in the directory that contains cm2.exe. Run cm2fix.com instead of cm2.bat whenever you want to run the game.

Yes, some old games have a bug where they fail if there is "too much" memory. Change it back to the original value and you should see that Syndicate runs nicely. It does for me.

It's searching within the ROM data for the string "(C) COPYRIGHT IB", which is probably not found in any modern BIOS, and definitely not in DOSBox. I'll make a patch for it later.
