I'm trying to avoid to buy a new Sound Blaster, but I have no idea about what kind of sound cards to buy. I have a Sound Blaster Live! Value, and I would like a sound card with sound font capabilities, good sound and not too expensive. Any idea?

I agree with the title, not with the text. I'm not sure if Uwe is making movies or if it's only trying to kill our brains. If it is the later, he's actually VERY GOOD at that.

A Sound Blaster AWE32 is really a Sound Blaster 16 with and eMu sampler. For digital sound, you may select Sound Blaster 16, and for MIDI sound you may select MIDI and use any soundcard with the AWE Soundfont.

I used Game Wizard 3.0, mainly for save and load in some games. I don't know if it works in DOSBox.

Abe's exoddus won't work in DOSBox. DOSBox is a DOS emulator, not a windows emulator, and Abe's exoddus is a windows game. No windows games will work in DOSBox.

I guess that Turbo Pascal 7 programs and high cycles settings may produce the famouse "Runtime Error 200". In auto mode, it would work well, but...

No sound drivers for DOS. There are some drivers for Win 9x that enables some kind of compatibility, but I don't know if some of the stuff will work in plain DOS (as it worked with AudioPCI cards).

As far as I know, official releases of DOSBox needs S3 864 drivers to make Windows 3.x work. Will S3 drivers works in other programs (Word 5, Wordperfect 6, AutoCAD) that doesn't have VESA drivers? I know some unofficial builds can emulate ET4000 and Paradise drivers, but is any other SVGA chipset …

I've been reviewing Windows 3.11 in DOSBox and it runs faster than in VMWare (I'm using DOSBox 0.70 and VMWare Server 1.03). Ok, I've corrected the error in Win XP: I forgot I put a Trident 9400 driver in Word (back in the time where graphic cards had drivers for DOS apps). So I've replaced it with the standard one and now I can do previews. Any one knows if there are VESA drivers for DOS applications?

I'm trying to get Microsoft Word 5 for DOS working, but I've found some problems... Using Windows XP, it seems to run fine, but it crashes (NTVDM error) when I'm trying to do a preview before printing. Using DOSBox, it complains about copy protection. Any advice?

Check if there's a BIOSE update. If this doesn't work, your HDD may have a jumper that limits it's capacity to 32 Gb, so it works in old mainboards.
