640k was the MAXIMUM conventional memory (segments 0000-A000). You can get another 64k for UMBs, but they were not used for games. I wonder how can a PC get 657k of conventional memory...

Timidiy use same patches... maybe getting a timidity-patches from any Linux distro may help... You can also download the GUS drivers from www.gravis.com. Get the six floppies and install into DOSBox (they detect your GUS), and the installer will decompress the original patches.

Fast Attack had some bugs involving sound, like stuttering and locks when you launch tomahawk in ripple. There's a patch that solves most errors. Try patching Fast Attack first.
