I don't think you can play the english version with the original DOS executable. In the patch readme for version 3.1, it says that DOS versi0n is only supported with SDLPal.

I tried the benchmark and I noticed no slowdown. I tried various cycles and everything looked fine. I'm using Linux and also Ryzen 7 3700X. What power plan are you using? Is there any difference if you use High Performance ?

Only question I have is, is softmpu attempting to set the mode for the serial port at all, or does it expect users to do that manually. It is not documented. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the baudrate for "serial midi" is 38400, so perhaps softmpu is trying to set the serial port to that. …
