I might try to install a true CM-32L ROM set in there to see if that enables the extra sound effects. I guess it wouldn't be harmfull.

So, this isn't gospel or anything, but: Do note that only the MIDI output from the arranger section to the LA sound section is affected by cutting that trace. Recently acquired these nice pieces of history for very reasonable prices. A poor-mans MT-32 2nd generation (aka, the Roland RA-50 Realtime Arranger) And a nice MT Multimedia monitor-stand speakersystem with subwoofer.

If handhelds count, my first real game was "Frisky Tom", from Bandai Electronics. This was in 1982 or 1983. As for real computers, it was "Choplifter" on the Commodore 64, a year later. For DOS, the first game I really played a lot was "Fire Power".

I might slightly regret selling my boxed AdLib Gold card some 10 years ago or so for around 150 euros. I regret selling my near-mint condition Commodore SX-64 more though.

Not 100% computer related but at least it's old alright. FInally managed to score a Roland PG-10 programmer for my D-10 for a very reasonable price. They seem to be very rare nowadays.

A few days ago I got a Roland D-10 for free from a friend of mine. After cleaning and replacing the battery it works like new. I doubt I can do anything with it related to DOS gaming though. Or would it be MT-32 compatible with a few tricks?
