Re: Patch for pixel-perfect scaling

What I thought was wrong was the resulting aspect ratio of the games with 640x400 graphics. But now I see that, for surfacepp to bring those graphics closer to 4:3, it would require a 3200x2400 full screen area. Yes, except that 3200 x 2400 will give you precisely a 4:3 aspect ratio, whereas 2560 x …

Re: Monkey Island 1&2: Roland MT-32 + Sound Blaster support

in DOS
Forgive me if I've missed this somewhere - I've went back through the thread and read each post, but didn't see anything that speaks to this error: http://i.imgur.com/rdqVFF3.png That is because you must run the patch either in DOSBox or using true MS-DOS, not a Windows 64-bit command line. A 32- …

Re: SQ3 sound glitch

ripsaw8080 wrote: How about some details? Such as: what sound driver did you select for SQ3? Considering that you commented in this thread, are you perhaps using a non-stock sound driver? I believe I'm using mtblast.drv which I think was provided by NRS?

Re: Patch for pixel-perfect scaling

I seem to be encountering this same issue with 1600x1200 resolution when Playing KQ1 (AGI version) whose native res is 320x200. If I sent the window resolution to 1600x1201 then it scales properly. Do you observe it with the latest version of the patch—alpha 13? It has been included into DOSBox EXE …

Re: Monkey Island 1&2: Roland MT-32 + Sound Blaster support

in DOS
I see. I noticed many of the cons you pointed out the longer I played. The poor timing of the music and the abrupt transitions really are jarring. So, when I first played Secret of Monkey Island in ScummVM, I heard a different sound effect -- it wasn't the one in the YouTube video I linked to and …

Re: Monkey Island 1&2: Roland MT-32 + Sound Blaster support

in DOS
How does everyone feel about the CD version of The Secret of Monkey Island? In my opinion, the music seems at least on par with (if not superior to) that of the MT-32, and it seems to have better sound effects as well as ambient sound effects (like the ocean, for example). So are there any …

Re: Patch for pixel-perfect scaling

Noticed an interesting issue with the patch. When playing King's Quest 1, whose native resolution is 320x200, if I want to scale it up to 960x800 then I have to set the window resolution in dosbox to 960x801 Please, try again with the attached patch. Edit: If you cannot build DOSBox, wait a bit for …

Re: Patch for pixel-perfect scaling

And in the meantime, alpha 13 is out... Awesome! I always look forward to new releases of your patch. First, I immediately noticed a significant improvement in speed. Big difference. Second, I assume that this: The secondary scaling mode and the exact criterium for the fallback may be specified in …

Re: DOSBox ECE (Windows, Linux)

Hey yesterplay - This is a small aesthetic thing, but I booted up the most recent build of ECE and noticed the new launch screen image. http://i.imgur.com/2DmxZ1Y.png Personally, I really dig the old one: http://i.imgur.com/lx0Ddyw.png That said, the older background image (without the blue filter) …

Re: Patch for pixel-perfect scaling

Hey Ant, Noticed an interesting issue with the patch. When playing King's Quest 1, whose native resolution is 320x200, if I want to scale it up to 960x800 then I have to set the window resolution in dosbox to 960x801 . However, if I want to scale up to 1280x1000, then I can set the window resolution …
