PS: I found a huge list of soundfonts, Chaos included here http://members.multimania.co.uk/cybervortex/soundfonts/download.html BTW, almost ALL of those soundfonts (plus a cazillion more) can be found in this thread -> http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=20786 (scroll down to "Soundfonts …

My favorite game soundtracks: BlueByte Software's "Extreme Assault" (composed by Chris Huelsbeck)... one of the best orchestral game soundtracks, hands down! :) Heh, back when the game first hit the store shelves, I didn't have a PC fast enough to run it. I had downloaded the demo of the game, which …

Man, that's exceptionally cool looking, SquallStrife! 😀 Dunno if you're doing requests, but I'd LOVE to see one of an old Intel 286 (if possible, one with the background, and one with the rendered chip fullscreen/fullpic) 😀 BTW, what did you use for the rendering? Looks quite cool 😀

multiple monitor support for wider FOV by network, etc... Hehe, I remember back in the day (when I lived in Miami, and first 'officially' starting my PC business) working on a customer's small office network setup. I gave him a *discount* for allowing me to sweet talk him into letting me borrow his …

Re: In need of 8 Mb Chaos soundfont

Here's the website/page for version 1.5 of the Silverspring Gaming SoundFont, but unfortunately that newer version is probably not what you're looking for (it's 67MB) -> http://my.opera.com/Silverspring/blog/download . And yes, as Jolaes76 replied, you can only utilize 28MB of that 32MB that you …

- Epic Pinball (especially the Super Android Table) - One Must Fall 2097 I'm thinking that the original poster was prolly refering to OPL FM synth music, but those two indeed ROCK! :) The music also really used somekind of a special stereo effect which I only heard in their games. I forget offhand …

Re: In need of 8 Mb Chaos soundfont

Sounds like you got it working 😀 Yeah, any true AWE32 or AWE64 shouldn't have the problem that I described earlier (as they both have the onboard sample ROM). An SBLive also works as well (as the drivers load "CT1MGM.ROM" for any SoundFonts that contain ROM samples from the older AWE32/AWE64s).

Re: In need of 8 Mb Chaos soundfont

What hardware (or softsynth) are you using to load it into? The 8MB (as well as 12MB) version of the Chaos SoundFont uses a few AWE32/AWE64 onboard ROM samples. It's only a few (maybe only six or seven), but on any hardware (or softsynth) that doesn't include the ROM samples (for whatever …

But I do not know if I would still have liked these if I had listened to the wavetable sounds first. For me, that's the reason why I've always disliked FM synth so much. I'm a bit spoiled... having bought a WaveBlaster (1) when they first hit the store shelves, that is almost *ALL* that I had ever …

Or if you want to hear something technically impressive, Earthsiege uses a combination of synth AND digitized sounds for its music, with its setup program's tune really stealing the show. Man! There ya go again, Gemini000... MAKING/FORCING me to go digging through all of this mess of CDROMs/ …

I remember Brix for having astonishingly high-quality PC speaker sound effects. Yep, Brix (and Brix 2 Deluxe) had some pretty nice sounding PC speaker sound effects, as far as PC speaker sound effects go :) (edit) P.S. ¥Weeds¥ trivia(l)/historical tidbit: Brix 1 and 2 was my *second* reason for …

the old Creative Labs' "CMF" (Creative Music Format) for their FM music P.S. You can play CMF files with the files in the attached ZIP :) First run "SBFMDRV.COM" to load the Creative Labs CMF FM driver, then: PLAYCMF.EXE filename.CMF (edit) Just forgot another that used CMF format music files, " …

If you're refering to OPL FM synthesis: The oldie "Cybersphere" without a doubt -> http://www.classicdosgames.com/game/Cybersphere.html . Pretty amazing stuff what that guy did with the OPL3 :) Another good one is Brix -> http://www.classicdosgames.com/game/Brix.html (as well as Brix 2 Deluxe). …
