for the record a vood0o 5 with 2x 2800+ amd processors nets a 13.3 fps @ 1280x1200 If I started without steam, and without excel and crome in teh backgroun i probably could do a bit better. ;P

are you modifying windows 98 registry for different L2 cache sizes? It defaults to 256kb, but with p2's having 512 and my p-pro having 1mb... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/183063 When i rean 98, i ALWAYS made sure the value matched what I had installed.

I dont fully understand the fascination with boxed hardware and NOT opening it. When i get sealed games, I just L-O-V-E to open it and enjoy it! The people that build box-forts out of sealed boxes just seems strange. 🙁

its a shame, i have a board that can use one... those cards will only work in media bus slots. that said, the video card will most likely work. the sound card part wont.

the only issue with a ram disk is the cpu overhead. Even on new systems. its faster than a floppy and hard disk, but if you play a game that continuously loads from the disk, you may have stuttering issues.

the MX300 is THE soundcard for the era. if not that card, then the first audigy. If you have a A2-zs then just use that. while its a little new to be period correct, it was probably the best pci sound card until the x-fi. And even that is debatable.
