Speaking of, I always have huge game manuals to scan... Those that are so big that by the time you approach the middle of it, the pages are hard to make flat enough for the scanner. QEMU is a fine option, but like PCem it really needs a PC that can accept the huge performance hit. Most people don't own such a PC. Besides, Windows 9X tends to be very fragile.

I'd use Windows ME on a machine where DOS sound compatibility doesn't exist. But then again, usually Windows XP works fine on such a machine. So I never use it. Maybe one day...

I use Microsoft Visual C++ version 4.0 (available on... well Google) when I want to do some C code that uses Win32 and targets Win32S. It's the last version that supports it. Any new project will be compatible with Win32S out of the box. It runs perfectly on Windows 10, but of course it's so old …

Fixed: I had to manually enter 1920x1080 or any other widescreen resolution in c:\windows\ubisoft\ubi.ini The widescreen fix'd exe won't work with the 4:3 resolutions the Rayman M setup utility displays.

Tried to compile Dune Dynasty for WASM, so I can play Dune II in Chrome/Firefox with all the QoL improvements of OpenDUNE / Dune Dynasty. Sadly, Allegro 5 doesn't seem to have an emscripten port...

Finally setup my retro rig again. I didn't suspect that Glide and MS-DOS games would look this good on a modern OLED monitor with VGA input !

Nah, .NET 1.1 and 2.0 had ANSI (that means Windows 98SE and later compatible) runtimes variants available. It's not distributed by Microsoft anymore, but DOTNETFX20 can still be found.
