I enjoyed tinkering with all the old hardware for some years (which led me to this site actually). Back then it was building the ultimate P3, and then I started playing with P4s and realized they were better, and then testing old and new stuff on those souped up P3s/ P4s against my Core 2/ Ph2 …

I think Maxtors have a somewhat underservedly bad rep here, but I agree that at the moment WD is really up there in terms of quality. Back to topic, playing the yearly upgrade strategy with regards to my main rigs. It's better to build cutting edge and use it for 4-5 years IMO than go low/ mid end …

There's some nice cases in there worth salvaging. I've brought back a couple loads like this but like others have said, most of it would likely be trash, and you'll have the massive headache of recycling the balance.
