Has anyone actually played the PowerVR version or 3DFX(Voodo) version of this game. Are the grahpics much improved. I have read on the net that the PowerVR version has much better graphics. The only version I have played is the direct 3D software choice. What do you mean by "PowerVR" and "3dfx" …

Re: Panzer Commander & Glide wrapper?

I'm not sure you would even want a Matrox card in a vintage gaming rig or a modern system that runs vintage games. They weren't very fast, even in the days of the G200 and G400. They were always known more for their sparkling crisp 2D quality and for being the first cards with dual head capability …

By putting a PCI or AGP card into a PCI-Express slot? :happyhappy: Wouldn't that be wonderful? Yes, that would be wonderful. But you can also put a PCI card into a PCI slot, or a PCI-e card into a PCI-e slot. Not so wonderful, but works. Really. I do have an old Pentium 3 machine lying around, but …

Not the only way, you can also try with an older card in a modern system. But yes, a retro system is still your best option, at least until we can have perfect software emulation of 3dfx hardware in DosBox, and/or hardware accelerared Win9x sessions under virtual machines.

Indeed, there are no such strings in the exe. One wonders why it was listed here, then: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=534&highlight=panzer Because that's just an unofficial list posted many years ago with lots of errors. Perhaps a 3dfx edition was released, but is now lost? All versions …

Re: Panzer Commander & Glide wrapper?

If that particular game supports Glide, a wrapper will always be a better option than fighting with different Direct3D versions, Windows Vista/7 incompatibilities, VMWare/VirtualPC/VirtualBox configuration and so on. But you must first make sure that the game actually supports Glide. If the game …

Re: Recommedations for an Upgrade

These off-topic posts about 32-bit OS limitations are interesting, but irrelevant. OP already stated that he's using a 64-bit OS (Windows XP-64), and his RAM limitation is hardware related. Please read Intel 945G/945P datasheet, chapter 9 - Memory address map: http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/ …

Re: X-Wing 95 and 3d Hardware acceleration

Why dgVoodoo? Is it a Glide game? I think so, game comes from 1998. That means nothing. We must know for sure if X-Wing 95 is a Glide game or not, instead of making assumptions. Did you need dgVoodoo or any other Glide wrapper to run the game before the graphics card upgrade? If not, you can bet …
