Re: Tomb Raider I

in Windows
I tried all three methods and I definitely have 64x Vista. And this is where the problem leads to a dead end. If you really have Vista x64, and you can't use DosBox, then I'm sorry, but you are SOL. On the other hand, I still can't understand how you managed to run TR using the advanced …

Re: TR1 on 64-bit Vista problem

I showed my Dad everything you guys wrote but he thinks people go on DOSBox and mess up the programme so that it destroys other people's computers. He also doesn't believe that there is any way of testing if using DOSBox will harm the computer. Actually there is at least one: run DosBox inside a …

Re: Tomb Raider I

Tomb Raider Advanced Installer configures the game to run with dgVoodoo and VDMSound. Therefore the game itself (not the installer) won't work on Vista x64. I really doubt you are using Vista x64. Please follow these instructions to check your OS version: Method 1 1. Click Start, then click on Run …

Re: Tomb Raider I

batracio, I'm not using DOSBox because my Dad thinks it will harm the computer which I mentioned on that other thread. I definitely haven't downloaded it - I have the disc. Though I'm not really sure what you mean by "sold out" version. Open your TR1 CD from your favorite media player and see if …

Re: TR1 on 64-bit Vista problem

Tommypou, does your dad know that he will have to pay $10 in order to let you use Glidos and VDos32, while DosBox is completely free? Does he know that DosBox is open source software, that is, you can download the source code and check that there is no way it can harm your computer, while if you try …

Re: I'm getting rid of old hardware

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying, the package itself arrived in good contition, and everything seems to be right, but I haven't had time to properly test the items. I received three packages with several computer parts in a few days, so I've been quite busy. Anyway, thank you very much for the …

Re: Tomb Raider I

Actually the background music does seem to be missing although I'm way more concerned about the plot line so I really thought nothing of it. I'm looking into some things that may help. Thanks a lot for your replies. Could you please tell us if background music is missing because you are …

gidierre wrote: now, hadn't he mounted the cdrom right don't you think he'd have immediately noticed that ambient music was broken, long before getting to any cutscene? Ambient music is missing in Sold Out release of Tomb Raider.

Re: Tomb Raider I

VDMSound won't work on 64-bit Windows versions, and VDOS32 is for Vista 32 only. DosBox is the route to go. If you successfully got TR working in DosBox, but still can't hear audio in cutscenes, I bet you haven't mounted correctly the CD-ROM drive into DosBox. First follow Rekrul's advices, and then …

Re: Tetris Classic for Windows MIDI Music/Sound Problem

BTW, isn't VDMSound only for DOS programs (similar to DOSBox), and not directly for Windows programs? IIRC I tried VDMSound a while back for TCW, and I don't remember it working (as TCW isn't a DOS program). Make a batch file that loads TCW.exe and run it with VDMSound. OPL2/3 and MPU-401 emulation …

Re: Virtual PC

Yesterday I tried Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle Of Flesh in DosBox. The FMV scenes are grainy, yes... but they don't look any worse than they did back in 1996. It's your selective memory what makes you think that the video was 100 times better back in the day, when it was not. Anyway, if you want to …

Re: I'm getting rid of old hardware

Hi 5u3, a picture of both slockets would be nice. About those Coppermine CPUs, have you ever tried the Celeron 667@1000 MHz and the P-III 650@866 MHz? If so, did they work stable enough? PS: I guess that SB CT1750 does have a buggy DSP, doesn't it?
