EOD or not, they are SDRAM... where did you get confused ? EDO is not SDRAM actually, it's a different type of memory. (EDO is asynchronous memory as opposed to SDRAM, which is synchronous) Perhaps instead of SDRAM you ment DIMM, as opposed to SIMM? If you try to boot with 1 EDO DIMM and 1 SDRAM …

Are you sure the memory modules aren't EDO DIMM's? The memory chips look kinda 'fat' compared to the old fashioned 32meg SDRAM DIMM's I'm used to seeing. So'd you put a wide blade putty knife between the CPU and HS and twist yet? Whenever I (try to) remove a heatsink from a PCB using something to use as a lever, I'll put a small plastic card (like an old telephone card or old credit card or so) and hold it on the PCB to prevent damage to the PCB. …

Your board looks exactly like the syl8884 motherboard I have. I'm pretty sure mine supports (or atleast the online manuals I find say so) both 3.3v and 5v chips. Either your motherboard is realy missing some part so it realy doesn't support 5v chips... or 5v was perhaps purposefully disabled for …

I got a related question. I have a couple cpu's I removed the HSF from, but theres a large thick piece of glue left on them which is impossible to remove with alcohol. Anyone have any idea on how I can get the thick layer of (white/yellowish) glue from the cpu without damaging it too much?
