High-end digital cameras still use CF cards because they are faster than SD cards, so CF will be around for a while, but perhaps not in your local JB Hi-Fi/Walmart/etc.

Not having much luck with this P3 rig... The AOpen board is quite flaky after it's been powered up for 20 mins or so, eventually it will hard reset, and the display will be gone, even if you're using a PCI video card. In my old 166MMX rig, the "computer thinking" noise was induced in the CD-Audio cable. If I removed that cable, the computer thinking noise would be greatly decreased. Of course, not having that cable in place was far more inconvenient...

rfnagel: If you check out the schematics from those links you gave me, the DIN MIDI input is opto-isolated, but the gameport input is not. Cheers for the info about that previously useless header on the SB Live, I think that's about perfect for what I need!

Oh, I see. Sorry, I was just speaking of KVMs in general, so I guess this one is a little different. That said, it's possible the unit still uses the keyboard socket to detect if the machine is switched on. So maybe get a cable and see if it helps?

May I also suggest getting a PCI Voodoo 3 card, instead of that POS Trident? Vortex 2 is quite good, it offers nice DOS compatibility and DB, but it's FM synth is really bad. AFAIK the Live! uses wavetable for FM and as you have witnessed it sucks at it. Cheers for the tip, I'll see what I can …
