thanks for the links and info. for the purposes of what I was doing I was mostly focusing on overall visual quality as opposed to framerate or smoothness of play but Rage Pro cards seem pretty cheap so I may pick one up and see the difference.

I acually just tested this game with everything except the powervr. I agree that the voodoo and verite versions are the best. The worst as far as looks from what I saw was the matrix mystique. The rage and virge versions were a bit dark for my tastes.

found them at a thrift. Don't see much MFM stuff in the wild so I couldn't pass them up though I give the hdd's about a 10% chance of actually working once I get around to testing them

well, been playing around with diffrent cards in tomb raider. any suggestions on getting the matrox mystique version working for tomb raider? I used the patch from the link above but when I go to play it goes through all the FMV stuff fine but when it gets to the menu screen its just gibberish lines …

hey, what kind of sound card are you using? I was using a Diamond Monster mx300 and after switching to a generic ISA SB16 card I now get sound in Vquake and it doesn't crash on exiting.

funny you should post about this as I've just started playing with vquake myself. I'm running a amd k6-3+ at 560mhz with 512mb ram a Verite 2100 and also win 98se for me the game loads and runs but it locks up when I go to exit the game. I hit Y to exit and the screen goes black and thats it and …

Hmm, so univbe detects your et4000? I also have a 2mb VLB ET4000 installed in my 486 but when I try to run univbe I get a "superVGA chipset not detected" error.

I have noticed that the volume output from the mt-32 is pretty low. with the mt-32 and my speakers turned to max its maybe average loudness but then the digital effects from the sound blaster are ear shattering loud. is there another place I need to adjust the volume or is this just a quirk of these …
