Re: windows 7 x64 & rogue squadron 3d

in Windows
Mine works technically (ie, there's no problem with the program), but in the game my x-wing keeps disappearing into the distance! I don't remember that being part of the game, I'll have to find the manual... EDIT: Apparently you hit F1 to fix my distance problem

Re: windows 7 x64 & rogue squadron 3d

in Windows
hmm... OK, I know you said you did, but are you SURE you followed the instructions COMPLETELY? Applied the patch, made a new CD, installed from that, etc? Like I said, it worked for me...

Re: windows 7 x64 & rogue squadron 3d

in Windows
I've found a LOT of my games do that, close that instance (right click on it minimised), then set Compatibility mode to disable desktop themes & colours (can't remember exactly what the settings are called, they're together on the list). It should work thereafter. Mine does.

Re: Pentium emulation?

in DOSBox General
Thanks - the 'pentium_slow' worked fine to install, and it didn't even need it to run. Unfortunately, it's one of those games that played far better in the memory than on any CPU... 🙁

Pentium emulation?

in DOSBox General
I'm trying to install & run Psygnosis 'Destruction Derby 2' on my Windows 7 x64 machine. It won't run in Windows, it's incompatible with 64 bit processing, but there's a DOS version on the CD. However, this isn't a game-specific question... When I try and run the DOS installer through DOSbox, it …

Re: DOSBox Frontend problem...

in DOSBox General
The fullscreen option is on all of them, I think, but the graphics are scrambled (well, slightly screwed, with some negative colour elements) when I use the option in any frontend, whereas it's fine when I use DOSbox 'manually'. The 'output=' option seems to be working fine so far.

DOSBox Frontend problem...

in DOSBox General
I'm looking for a DOSbox frontend that will start up my games the way I start them manually. Problem is, if I start DOSbox up windowed, then maximise it, my graphics tend to be a bit garbled. Visible, but not pretty. If I start DOSbox up fullscreen, it's fine! Trouble is, I've now tried DOSShell ( …

Re: Great battles of Alexander

in Windows
All 3 games (despite DOS being mentioned on the Alexander CD) are firmly Windows games, I couldn't find a single executable file that worked in DOSbox. They all do work now, Alexander, being the earliest one, is just a bit quirky.

Re: Great battles of Alexander

in Windows
Thanks - I found that today, including a specific mention of my exact problem - when I get home from work I'll try it. Mine isn't the Collected Edition, it's 3 individual CDs. EDIT: It works, but not perfectly. Playable, though...

Re: SimCity - which?

in Windows
Everyone is, of course, correct. Works like a dream in DOSbox. Of course, my first city burned to the ground in 10 years... And, equally obviously, as this turns out to be a DOS game, I posted in the wrong section! Sorry... 😢

Great battles of Alexander

in Windows
Has anyone managed to get this one running? Despite the comment on the CD that this game works in both DOS & Windows 95, Interactive Magic's 1997 Great Battles of Alexander only seems to work under Windows. GBoCaesar, third in the series, installs & runs fine under Windows 7 x64, and by copying the …

Re: SimCity - which?

in Windows
Wow... SimCopter... I'd forgotten that existed! I have tried it in the past, but sadly I think it was one (of many...) games I obtained from less legitimate sources... all of which have been disposed of. I might start picking some up on eBay.

Re: SimCity - which?

in Windows
Thanks for the replies folks - I had thought SC2000 was a Windows game. I found the CD last night, but too late to check it out, I'll try tonight. I have certainly read enough elsewhere to worry that it won't install under Win7!

Re: SimCity - which?

in Windows
ANY version - I'm going to buy the one that runs best on a Windows 7 x64 system (unless 2000 is fine - assuming I can find my CD). I'm asking in advance, as I just bought a copy of ToCA Race Driver 2 on eBay, only to find it just don't work on a 64 bit system (thanks to the copy protection), and I …

SimCity - which?

in Windows
This is a sort of combined Windows 7/DOSbox question... I want to play some version of Sim City - preferably the newest one I can, obviously. I can pick up most versions for pennies on eBay, but I have read various comments around the net about compatibility with newer machines (I have a Windows 7 …
