I've heard alot of games require the speaker....even if it's not used. Never encountered the issue myself since I've never disabled the speaker on a host system or under DosBox.

Which version of DosBox are you using? System Shock works for me with DosBox v0.63. There has been some FILES problems fixed in the CVS but System Shock should work fine....unless your using a version older than 0.63.

Doesn't VGAFIX fix the NTVDM VESA limitation for NVIDIA cards? I really haven't tested it with NVIDIA cards since I've been using ATI since the 9700 first came out and my VESA games work great with my X800 which unlike my 9700 actually has VESA 3.0! YAY! Also I've heard that some VIA boards had problems with FastWrites and 8x AGP...so they'd run FastWrites turned off and in 4x mode. Been forever since I used a VIA mobo....bad experiences back in the day. Heard that they are pretty decent nowadays.....nowhere near Nforce tho.

The next official ver will have Mech2 fixed so you don't need a crack. You'll have to mount an .iso of your Mech2 CD tho.

I wonder if a function could be included in DosBox that would test all emulated sound cards. It would automatically cycle DosBox to determine the # of cycles required for sound card detection.
